13th Annual Soup ‘N Dance

Join neighbors, family, and friends for New Chauncey’s biggest event, the 13th annual Soup & Square Dance on Friday, Jan. 25th from 6 to 8 pm at the old Happy Hollow Elementary School, now the Happy City Hollow.

Entertainment will include LIVE MUSIC and family-oriented square dancing for all. You don’t have to square dance if you don’t want to, but we know we’re going to have fun at it (even though most of us are only beginners)!

The cost to rent the room, pay the musicians, and everything else for the event is around $500. The New Chauncey Neighborhood Association would appreciate a donation to help offset the cost. The suggested amounts are $5 per individual or $15 per family. You can also send money via PayPal.

Please bring a soup, bread/butter/cornbread/rolls, a fruit/veggie tray, or dessert to serve 10 people. The more the merrier!

Drinks and paper goods provided. Along with power strips for the soup (if you’re bringing a crockpot).

Please let us know if you will bring food, be paying, and if you can help set up at 5.

For those of you that are on our e-mail list, you should have received an evite to the event.  Please RSVP by January 24rd (so we have an approx. # attending).  If you are not on our e-mail list, please sign-up and we can get one sent out to you.

Are you a photographer? Please share your photos from the event so we can post them on our web site. Thank you!

2017 Meet and Greet

Help welcome new student renters to the New Chauncey neighborhood by volunteering for the annual Meet and Greet.

It’s 60 minute activity that has you walking through New Chauncey, knocking on doors, and handing out information about West Lafayette and the surrounding area.

Join us on Tuesday August 22, 5:30 PM @ Graduate Student Center (RM 105).  It is located at 504 Northwestern Avenue inside the Northwestern parking garage.

The Meet and Greet event is sponsored by the West Lafayette-Purdue Community Partnership Team, a group that meets throughout the year to discuss areas of common interest.

If you would like to participate in this fun event, please show up on August 23rd.

Hope to see you there.

More Gas Line Updates are coming May 2017: Meridian, N. Chauncey, Grant, Lawn, Oak, & Vine

We Need Your Help!

The nightmare isn’t over. Starting May 30th of this year, Miller Pipeline will begin replacing the gas lines along Meridian, N. Chauncey, Grant, Lawn, Oak, & Vine.

The project ID for this round is N-676. A number we will need to reference in the future while talking with Vectren to make sure this doesn’t happen again:

The New Chauncey Neighborhood Association has contacted the City of West Lafayette Engineering, Development, Mayor, and City Council offices to setup a meeting with Vectren. If you would like to be involved in the meeting, organizing around this effort (including existing repair issues from previous gas line updates elsewhere in the neighborhood), please contact us over Twitter, Facebook, Nextdoor, e-mail.

This time around, we are asking residents to photograph their existing lawns, sidewalks, curb strips (land between street and sidewalk), trees, etc. This will allow us an accurate reference to ensure Vectren returns the area to its original state.

Spread the word! Stay vigilant! Say hello to your neighbors!
